CIFF is seeking a Finance Manager (Group) to lead the foundation's group financial control activities, safeguarding assets of approximately $8bn. Working under the Director of Financial Control, the role ensures that financial operations are accurate, timely, efficient and well controlled, and protects CIFF's licence to operate across its jurisdictions. The post-holder acts as a trusted adviser to the Head of Financial Control (Group), the Director of Financial Control, the CFO and the wider Finance leadership team, and deputises for the Head of Financial Control (Group) as required.
Key responsibilities:
- Leadership: line manage a financial accountant (Analyst) and coach less experienced team members.
- External reporting and audit: lead production of the CIFF UK annual report and subsidiary financial statements, coordinate external audits, resolve audit findings and prepare the Charity Commission return.
- Tax and compliance: oversee tax returns, CBCR and transfer pricing, handle HMRC notices and monitor regulatory change.
- Treasury and payments: control non-charitable expenditure, oversee balance sheet reconciliations, manage multi-currency cash and own the relationship with banking partners.
- Financial processing and risk: lead month-end procedures, maintain the finance risk control framework and group accounting policies.
- Payroll: review global payrolls and payroll tax compliance.
- Systems and process improvement: maintain Business Central, Emburse and Monday.com, and automate processes, including through AI tools.
- Other: support endowment monitoring, board and committee papers, carbon footprint calculation and reporting, and modern slavery risk assessment.
Requirements:
- Qualified accountant with strong post-qualification experience.
- Advanced technical knowledge of income tax and financial regulation, including FRS102 and/or SORP and Charity Commission requirements.
- Experience with UK company tax filings and treasury or cash management.
- Strong analytical skills and IT proficiency (Excel, Copilot; Business Central and Emburse desirable).
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to challenge senior stakeholders.
- Desirable: Business Central, JET reporting and Power BI experience, and motivation to work in the not-for-profit sector.
