Location: Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo
PATH is a global nonprofit dedicated to achieving health equity. PATH seeks a Consultant – Social and Behavioral Sciences (SBS) Advisor with expertise in global health, diagnostics, and implementation research to provide technical support for the planning, implementation, analysis, and dissemination of social and behavioral science activities integrated within diagnostic validation studies, including studies evaluating diagnostics for Ebola virus disease. The consultant will work closely with study investigators, community-based organizations, ministries of health, and local stakeholders to ensure community perspectives, user needs, behavioral considerations, and implementation realities are incorporated throughout study design, execution, interpretation, and dissemination. Responsibilities include designing SBS research questions and methodologies, developing research protocols and tools, advising on qualitative/quantitative approaches, assessing patient and community perceptions of diagnostic approaches, identifying behavioral risks and operational barriers to diagnostic implementation, and supporting analysis, reporting, and dissemination of findings. Requirements: advanced degree in social/behavioral sciences, anthropology, sociology, psychology, public health, implementation science, or related field; minimum 5 years' experience in social/behavioral science, qualitative, or implementation research in global health; professional working proficiency in French and English required; experience in outbreak response or infectious disease programs, preferably in the DRC; experience with Ebola or viral hemorrhagic fever outbreak response preferred. This position is remote, with preference for candidates based in the DRC; candidates in other African countries or Europe will also be considered.
