Location: Beni, Democratic Republic of the Congo
The GIS Unit provides geospatial services, including cartographic products, spatial analysis, and decision-support tools, to enhance situational awareness and support operational planning, coordination, reporting, and implementation of the Mission's mandate. Under the supervision of the GIS Team Leader, the incumbent will assist with preparation of topographic and thematic maps and geospatial analytical products; conduct terrain analysis; produce customized geo-products for mission leadership; design and maintain map templates and symbology standards; support collection, integration, management, quality assurance and documentation of geospatial data using field surveys, Mobile GIS, GNSS/GPS, satellite imagery and drone platforms; conduct spatial and statistical analyses; support development and maintenance of GIS applications, dashboards and web mapping solutions; coordinate with mission components and external partners on geospatial requirements; prepare technical reports and briefings; and deliver GIS capacity-building and training. Requirements: Master's degree in GIS, Geography, Cartography, Remote Sensing or related field; minimum 5 years' progressive experience in geospatial information systems integration, spatial analysis, image processing and mapping; demonstrated experience with ArcGIS Pro, QGIS or equivalent software; experience in remote sensing and imagery analysis; experience in geospatial database management including PostgreSQL/PostGIS; experience with mobile GIS data collection platforms (Survey123, QField, SMASH); experience in international organizations, peacekeeping, humanitarian or development programmes highly desirable; fluent English essential, working-level French desirable.
