ESO is seeking an HR Policy and Employee Relations Advisor to join its HR department as part of the launch of the ESO People Strategy 2026-2031. This is a blended role combining HR policy development with employee relations casework. The successful candidate will manage and drive the development, review and implementation of HR policies and frameworks; collaborate with staff representation bodies to support constructive social dialogue; provide expert HR advice to managers and staff on policies and employment conditions; lead HR projects such as organisational development and reviews of Staff Regulations; prepare HR proposals and reports for governance bodies; conduct research on HR trends; and represent HR in internal working groups. The role reports to the Programme Manager - People Strategy and will line-manage an HR Policy Officer. A minimum of five years of progressively responsible HR experience is required, ideally in an international or complex multi-national environment, with proven experience developing HR policies and managing employee relations casework including engagement with staff associations or unions. A university degree in HR, Law, Business Administration or a related field is required, along with excellent English language skills. The contract is fixed-term for three years, based on-site in Garching near Munich with some hybrid working flexibility.
