Amref Health Africa is anticipating funding for the STRIDES project, in collaboration with FHI360, to support strengthening disease surveillance, preparedness and response, especially for viral haemorrhagic fevers such as Ebola Virus Disease (EVD), in South Sudan. Amref seeks to recruit a Project Officer Surveillance to provide technical and operational support to county governments and ensure timely execution of project activities. The project is expected to run for an initial period of five months, ending February 2027, with possible extension. The Project Officer will support planning, implementation, coordination, monitoring, and reporting of EVD preparedness and response interventions at county level, working closely with State and County Departments of Health, health facilities, and community structures. Key responsibilities include coordinating day-to-day EVD preparedness and response activities; supporting county health teams in planning and execution of interventions related to surveillance, infection prevention and control, risk communication and community engagement, and emergency preparedness; providing technical assistance on EVD guidelines and protocols; strengthening county rapid response mechanisms; collecting and verifying project data; preparing reports; documenting best practices and lessons learned; and maintaining collaboration with State and County Health Departments, implementing partners, and community stakeholders. Based in Juba with frequent travel to high-risk EVD counties in Western Equatoria State.

Required: Bachelor's degree in public health, Nursing, Clinical Medicine, Epidemiology, Community Health, Health Systems Management, or related field; minimum three years of relevant experience in public health programs, emergency preparedness, disease outbreak response, or humanitarian programming; experience supporting infectious disease preparedness and response is an advantage; experience working with government structures and health systems in South Sudan is desirable; demonstrated project coordination, monitoring, and reporting experience; strong coordination, stakeholder engagement, report writing, communication, planning, and organizational skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office and data management tools.
