The Senior Programme Officer – CJ Fellows will support the implementation and visibility of the Calestous Juma Science Leadership Fellowship (CJF), with primary responsibility for science communication, knowledge dissemination and Fellow visibility. The role translates complex scientific, leadership and programme content into clear, engaging and accessible communications for diverse audiences, while supporting effective delivery of Fellowship activities, working closely with Fellows, faculty, programme teams, Science Communications, funding partners and other stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include developing communication strategies and content for the Fellowship; producing knowledge products such as impact stories, profiles, case studies, blogs, briefs and newsletters; supporting Fellows' visibility and thought leadership through media, publications and speaking opportunities; coordinating digital, media and event communications; supporting programme reporting and learning; and ensuring quality assurance of communication outputs.
Requirements: A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Science, Public Health, Science Communication, Communications, Journalism or a related discipline (Master's preferred). At least 5 years of progressive experience in science communication, strategic communications, science journalism or research communication, preferably within science, health, research, innovation or the non-profit sector. Demonstrated experience translating complex scientific/technical information for diverse audiences, working with researchers, institutions, policymakers and funders, and developing communication products. Excellent writing, editing and storytelling skills, strong stakeholder engagement abilities, and proficiency in digital communication tools and platforms.
