The Cashew Value Chain Improvement project, Phase II, focuses on enhancing the livelihoods of smallholder cashew farmers, especially youth and women, in Tandahimba and Nanyamba Districts, Mtwara Region, Tanzania, through sustainable farming practices, youth/female engagement, and strengthened AMCO governance for Rainforest Alliance certification.
The Cashew Value Chain Technical Coordinator plays a core technical advisory and leadership role, coordinating field-level implementation of sustainable cashew production with TARI, Ward and Village Extension Officers, AMCOs, and Amama Farms. Responsibilities include planning and coordinating Training of Trainers sessions on GAP, CSA and PHM; developing training schedules and budgets; providing on-site coaching to extension officers and farmers; maintaining stakeholder relationships; conducting field visits to monitor adoption of practices; preparing monthly progress reports; and documenting success stories.
Requirements: Bachelor's degree in agriculture, agronomy, agribusiness, rural development or related field; minimum 2 years' experience in the cashew value chain with knowledge of Tanzania's agriculture sector; knowledge of farmer needs, input supply, aggregated marketing, post-harvest handling, and advisory services; fluency in English and Kiswahili; computer literacy.
Contract duration: 12 months. Duty station: Tandahimba with frequent travel to field sites. Desired start date: 1 October 2026.
