The Finance Specialist ensures the quality and timely completion of month-end closing activities, maintains up-to-date knowledge of best practices in liquidity management, financial assurance in country program accounting processes, internal controls, and supports external statutory, donor, and internal audits, as well as Medair's financial reporting. The role promotes strong collaboration with Global Support Office finance teams, local Finance Managers and finance teams, and Heads of Country Programs. This is a Global Support Office position based in Nairobi, Kenya, fixed-term for 1 year starting 1 October 2026.
Responsibilities include: ensuring timely and accurate month-end closing, reconciliations, financial postings, statutory records, and management reports; reviewing and approving country programme cash needs and supporting financial planning; supporting statutory, donor, and internal audits and following up on audit observations; reviewing country finance compliance with policies and internal controls; overseeing the Accounts Payable process and Kenyan statutory/regulatory compliance; and providing expert advice, training, and capacity building to country finance teams.
Requirements: Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field, with strong knowledge of accounting, financial management, internal controls, compliance, and risk management. Professional certification (CPA level 6+, ACCA, CMA, CIMA, or equivalent) desirable. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Advanced Excel expertise including financial modelling and dashboard development; ERP systems experience mandatory. Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills. High attention to detail and a hands-on approach. This is a Christian faith-based organisation and staff are expected to fully participate in team spiritual life including devotion and prayer.
