The Syria Education Programme II (SEP II / Manahel), funded by the UK's FCDO and running until 2027, provides primary school children access to quality, inclusive, and sustainable education in conflict-affected areas of Northwest Syria, covering pedagogy, curriculum, inclusion, and child protection.
Chemonics UK seeks a skilled Arabic-English Translator to support translation/interpretation for SEP II: translating technical and programmatic documents (proposals, reports, training manuals, donor deliverables) between Arabic and English; localising materials for Arabic-speaking audiences; providing interpretation during meetings/workshops/trainings; maintaining a bilingual glossary of development terms; reviewing others' translations.
Required: Bachelor's degree in Translation, Arabic/English Language, Linguistics, International Relations, or related field; minimum 3 years' professional translation/interpretation experience, ideally in international development, humanitarian assistance, or donor-funded programming; native or near-native proficiency in Arabic and English; experience translating for FCDO/UN/USAID/GIZ or similar desirable; right to work in Syria, based or willing to be based in Damascus.
