About the job: As Finance Officer, you will work closely with finance and administrative colleagues, programme staff, partner organisations, donors, and other relevant stakeholders. The role combines day-to-day office financial management with programme and partner financial support. The position is based in Amman and reports to the Regional Director, also based in Amman.
Tasks include, but are not limited to:
Financial Management - Office Finance Operations: manage day-to-day financial operations, including bookkeeping, payments, reconciliations, payroll-related processes, and financial documentation; support financial reporting, month-end and year-end closing, budgeting, and maintaining accurate and audit-ready financial records.
Grant & Partner Management: support programme teams in monitoring the financial management of partner organisations and reviewing partner budgets, financial reports, and disbursement requests; contribute to partner financial assessments, monitoring, audits, and capacity strengthening.
Budgeting, Tracking & Reporting: support budget development, expenditure tracking, financial analysis, and budget reallocations for office and programme activities; contribute to internal and donor financial reporting.
Procurement & Financial Controls: support procurement processes and review financial documentation to ensure compliance with internal policies and donor requirements; monitor financial controls, identify potential risks or irregularities, and support appropriate follow-up.
Audit, Risk & Compliance: support internal and external audits, including coordination of documentation and follow-up on audit findings; contribute to strengthening financial controls, compliance, and risk management.
About you: You are committed to high standards of accuracy and compliance, while being able to manage multiple priorities. You combine analytical skills with the ability to communicate financial information clearly to both finance and non-finance colleagues. You can identify risks and inconsistencies, find practical solutions with a proactive approach, and work collaboratively in a complex and international environment.
Formal qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, economics, or another relevant field;
- At least five years of relevant professional experience in finance, accounting, financial management, or a similar role;
- Strong knowledge and practical experience of accounting, bookkeeping, reconciliations, budgeting, financial reporting, and internal controls;
- Experience supporting donor-funded programmes and/or working with grants and partner organisations; experience in the NGO or international development sector is an asset;
- Experience with audit preparation, audit follow-up, and risk and compliance processes;
- Experience using accounting systems and strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with X-ledger or similar accounting systems is considered an asset;
- Excellent written and spoken English and Arabic.
Terms & conditions: Full-time, one-year contract with the possibility of extension. Location: Amman, Jordan. Starting date: As soon as possible.
