CLEAR Global helps people get vital information and be heard, no matter what language they speak, and has been at the forefront of inclusive AI for social impact in the Global South for over 10 years, building partnerships across the Global South AI ecosystem to drive language AI for marginalized language speakers.
 
The Executive Director (ED) will bring extensive international experience in the social impact sector, particularly on how technology can enable and empower local language speakers, and is responsible for the organization's consistent achievement of its mission and financial objectives. Working closely with the Board of Directors and CLEAR Global leadership, the ED envisions new strategies and policies, promotes active participation by the community of language enthusiasts, and leads teams to develop and implement programs and organizational and financial plans.
 
Responsibilities include representing the organization in local and global discussions on language technology; developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders and funders; timely communication with the Board; overseeing solid financial planning and meeting operational targets; ensuring organizational integrity and compliance with international standards; setting strategic direction; identifying emerging trends in language technology; fostering a supportive culture; and ensuring a safe environment with a living Code of Conduct.
 
Requirements: a related degree (advanced preferred); significant senior/executive nonprofit experience with at least 10 years of professional leadership; background with the African/Asian language technology ecosystem; effective nonpartisan relationship building; management, operations and fiscal administration track record; strategic and systems-change thinking; high ethical standards; familiarity with low-resource languages and ethical language-data considerations; fluent English and preferably a minority language speaker. Contract is open-ended, full or part time, flexible and home-based (working hours UTC ±3), with occasional travel.
