The Principal Gifts Coordinator will be part of a high-performing Development team based in California. Reporting to the Associate Vice President (AVP) Major & Principal Gifts, the coordinator will support the AVP in cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding prospects and donors in EDF's major and principal portfolio, employing the highest standards of a donor-centered approach to fundraising. This is a growth opportunity for someone interested in the Development profession.

Key Responsibilities: Work closely with the AVP to develop familiarity with portfolios to engage top donors; draft, edit, and proofread talking points for donor meetings, proposals, and stewardship reports; oversee project management of the proposal and report development process; prepare materials for donor and prospect meetings; track donor relationships, work plans, gift projections, and deliverables; produce individualized acknowledgements and correspondence; develop fundraising reports to track goals and activities; participate in donor strategy sessions; administrative tasks including data entry, scheduling, and expense tracking.

Qualifications: Associate degree or equivalent in a relevant field with at least 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in a fundraising, nonprofit, or academic setting (a Bachelor's degree may substitute for up to 2 years of experience). Excellent verbal and written communication, proofreading, organizational, and analytical skills; strong attention to detail; cultural competency; proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; experience with Salesforce or fundraising/relational databases strongly preferred; familiarity with project management tools such as Asana desired; commitment to the mission of Environmental Defense Fund.
