Rights and Resources Initiative (RRI) is a global coalition of more than 200 organizations dedicated to advancing the forest, land, and resource rights of Indigenous Peoples, local communities, Afro-descendant Peoples, and particularly women within these groups.
RRI and Campaign for Nature (CfN) launched the Community Land and Conservation Finance Initiative (CLARIFI) in January 2022, an international funding mechanism to scale up support for secure community land rights.
The Senior Associate, CLARIFI Communications, leads communications for the CLARIFI financing mechanism while supporting RRI's broader strategic communications efforts.
The role develops accessible, compelling content that showcases CLARIFI's research, advocacy, partnerships, and impact across digital, print, media, and event platforms. Responsibilities include: Writing, Editing & Storytelling (30%) - writing and editing digital-first content, impact stories, blogs, newsletters, annual reports; Communications Strategy & Research Dissemination (20%); Multimedia Production & Field Storytelling (15%), including international travel to project sites; Media Relations & Public Affairs (15%); Digital Communications & Brand Management (10%); and Project Coordination & Administration (10%). This is a full-time hybrid position based in Montreal, Quebec, with the option to telework two days per week. Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, English, or a related field, or equivalent experience; at least four years of progressively responsible experience in journalism, communications, editing, or content development, preferably within the climate, human rights, environmental justice, or international development sectors; two professional writing samples; media and digital-first content experience with SEO knowledge; and a passion for social justice, equity, and human rights. Spanish proficiency is highly preferred; Portuguese or Bahasa Indonesia an asset. Salary Range: CAD $61,000-$77,000 plus medical/dental/vision insurance, retirement match, 25 days PTO, and tuition reimbursement.
