Founded in 1981, the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) is an independent, non-profit organization defending journalists worldwide without regard to their political ideology. Through its work to safeguard journalists, CPJ protects the rights of all people to have access to diverse and independent sources of information.
This is a part-time contract position (approximately 20 hours per week), based in Asia with a preference for Taipei, remote, reporting to the Regional Director, Asia-Pacific. The role requires availability for a weekly team meeting (typically 7pm Taipei) and an all-staff meeting (typically 9am New York), plus occasional after-hours support in urgent cases.
Required qualifications: minimum five years of professional experience researching, reporting, and writing on press freedom and freedom of speech issues; excellent written and verbal communication; strong understanding of East Asia media and human rights issues; fluency in both Mandarin and English (reading, writing, speaking); proficiency in Google Workspace.
