This is a pipeline position created to prepare for anticipated hiring needs. Final hiring decisions will be made following internal review processes.

We are seeking an Associate Research Scientist I for 2-year-regular position (renewable) to work within the Statistics Department at the International Vaccine Institute in Seoul, Korea. (Duty station: Seoul, Korea)

Job Description
This position is:
* to facilitate IVI's scientific research projects by coordinating with study team for study design, data collection, data management, statistical analysis and reporting
* to collaborate and provide statistical input and contribution to publication and non-study related activities with scientist at IVI
* to lead data management activities

Key Roles & Responsibilities
1. Independently leading complex studies and projects
* Prepare the randomization spec or generate the randomization information in collaboration with independent statistician of the study.
* Develop statistical analysis plan (SAP), while providing technical solutions to methodological design of the projects/studies.
* Develop or review the table, figure and listing (TFL) shell document and data definition table (DDT)specification according to SAP specification.
* Perform statistical analysis while interpreting the analysis result and summarize the result as a report format.
2. Ensuring that all statistical aspects of documentation and research activities meets required standards and statistically correct
* Be familiar with statistical policy and methodology in the field
* Lead and participate in the development and review of policies, SOP and other controlled document in collation with biostatistical researcher or research scientist
* Review and comment study related documents in statistical aspect
* Perform the evaluation or review the validation process / documents for deliverables in biostatistics DM department
* Review the regulatory document and prepare the study data for the submission to national regulatory agency (NRA) or data sharing
3. Introducing, influencing and contributing to the statistical activities in IVI research program
* Stay abreast of latest development in the field of statistics and contribute to scientific advices in the field
* Promote and communicate statistical awareness and the role of biostatistician
* Collaborate with researchers at IVI and take consultancy in the design, statistical analysis and publication activities
4. Leading and performing the data management activities
* Provide on-site support for expat staff, including Immigration Office & MOFA visits, and general Determine data needed to be collected and appropriate data resources for specific projects on study sites
* Design and develop the data collection form
* Lead and consult the DM activities for the development and validation of the data systems for the IVI's scientific research projects
* Review the a user manual for data system and provide the training of data collection system to sites
5. GIS and medical Geography
* Design and develop GIS database to facilitate the research activities in project especially the cluster analysis and healthcare study
* Create and edit various geographic features of interest for the research programs. The geographic data are obtained from various sources that include GPS, satellite imagery, aerial photo and existing maps
* Integrate geographic data with population and health
* Prepare thematic and analytical maps for various use of the programs
* Evaluate geographically referenced population and disease data to ascertain logistic needs for the program activities
* Spatial monitoring of the data activities
* Perform geographic analysis of the scientific research programs
* Disseminate scientific outcomes of the data analysis in the field of medical geography

Job Requirements and Qualifications
1. Education Requirements
* Master's degree in statistics or biostatistics with experience
* Ph.D. is preferred
2. Related Field Work Experience
* Master's degree: 6+ years of experience in related field
* Ph.D.: 3+ years of experience in related field
3. Technical and Professional Skills / Knowledge
* Knowledge of statistical methodology and its applications
* Knowledge and experience of data management
* Knowledge of clinical trial and epidemiology
* Statistical programming or other related programming skills
* For publication and project report, do analysis in SAS, R,PASS and STATA
* For data management, have skills in MicroVisualFoxpro, SQL and MicroVisualStudio
* For other related skills such as geographic study, I Arcgis, SaTScan , GeoDa and Google Earth Pro.
