About City Cancer Challenge
City Cancer Challenge Foundation (C/Can) supports cities around the world as they work to improve access to equitable, quality cancer care. C/Can leads a city-based partnership initiative that aims to improve access to quality cancer care in cities around the world by transforming the way stakeholders from the public and private sectors collectively design, plan, and implement cancer solutions.
Currently active in cities across Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe and Latin America, the approach is built on the core principle that cities can drive impact at national level by crafting data-driven solutions with the support of a network of global, regional, and local partners that reflect an understanding of the unique local context.
C/Can is a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment for professionals willing to make an impact in Global Health and believing in the power of collaboration, transparency, inclusivity and agility.
Summary of Position
The Accelerator Hub is C/Can's engine for translating the organisation's city-implementation experience into replicable, high-impact approaches that can be deployed across new geographies and evolving priority areas. The team works at the frontier of C/Can's strategic development, operating with speed and rigour across business development, programme design, and organisational growth.
The Strategic Development Manager will work directly with the Director of the Accelerator Hub and function as an internal strategic consultant, deployed across priority projects as organisational needs evolve, interacting across the organisation and externally.
The Strategic Development Manager will support the organisation's efforts to grow its impact and scale across three interconnected areas: business development and strategic proposals; integration of care and new disease areas; and the development of approaches for scalability and replication of C/Can's interventions.
This role is suited to a professional who thrives in ambiguity, excels at managing multiple priorities and brings structured problem-solving, strategic thinking and high output quality to a mission-driven global health context.
Key Responsibilities
1. Organisational Development & Strategic Proposals
* Support the Director in identifying and pursuing new funding and country partnership opportunities, drawing on country intelligence, funder landscapes, and C/Can's proven experience in specific areas.
* Lead and contribute to the development of high-quality proposals, concept notes, and expressions of interest, translating technical programme knowledge into compelling narratives for donors and government partners.
* Synthesise country needs, funder demands, and implementation evidence to design high-level programme architectures that are both fundable and operationally sound.
2. Integration of Care
* Lead strategic projects exploring how C/Can's city-led model can respond to growing demand for more integrated, less disease-siloed approaches to health system strengthening.
* Support the engagement with external partners, funders, and technical experts to assess feasibility and co-design pilot approaches in selected geographies.
3. Scalability & Replication of C/Can Interventions
* Work with the Accelerator Hub team to systematise approaches for scaling C/Can interventions
* Identify opportunities to strengthen the internal infrastructure -- processes, tools, and institutional knowledge -- that supports replication at scale.
Qualifications
? 8+ years of experience in strategic consulting, global health programme design, or healthcare business development, with a track record of working across multiple issue areas and organisational contexts.
Skills
* Strategic and analytical thinking: able to structure ambiguous problems, synthesise information rapidly, and produce clear, actionable recommendations
* Strong experience in health system strengthening; knowledge of cancer care and/or other chronic or non-communicable diseases highly desirable
* Experience developing funding proposals and strategic documents for corporate or philanthropic funders
* Ability to work across technical and non-technical teams and translate complex content into accessible, stakeholder-ready materials
* Strong ability to deliver multiple priorities -- able to shift between workstreams and topics without loss of quality or rigour
* High proficiency in AI tools and modern collaboration platforms, with the ability to work at speed and introduce new ways of working in the Hub
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to engage credibly with senior counterparts in government, civil society, and the private sector
Personal Attributes
* Mission-driven, with genuine commitment to equitable health outcomes and an understanding of the dynamics of the non-profit and global health sectors
* Highly agile -- energised by variety, able to context-switch rapidly and embrace new topics with rigour
* Proactive and self-directed, with the confidence to push work forward autonomously in a fast-moving environment
* Originating from or with significant lived or professional experience in Low- and Middle-Income Countries -- this is a firm requirement
Languages
* Full professional proficiency in written and spoken English
* Professional proficiency in Spanish is highly desirable given C/Can's significant presence in Latin America
