ROLE
The Agriculture Manager will support the implementation of CATF's agriculture methane strategy to reduce emissions from the sector. The Manager will use their technical and scientific background to work in close coordination with the Methane Pollution Prevention (MPP) team, consultants, and other external partners and stakeholders to provide technical and capacity building support for agriculture methane mitigation projects, particularly on policy development, and advocate for strong national and subnational public policies to reduce methane emissions from agriculture, particularly from livestock.

CATF's agriculture methane theory of change is focused on inducing farmer behavior towards accelerated adoption of methane reducing technologies and practices that sustainability increase productivity. An important component of inducing farmer behavior is economics and adequate policies. The Manager will work on deep dives in market-based mechanisms, national and subnational agricultural policies, performing data gathering and analysis in collaboration with key stakeholders and partners to identify opportunities to act on reducing agriculture methane, particularly from livestock. The work is global, with an initial focus on Latin America.

The Manager will also help further the goals of the agriculture methane work and the MPP program at CATF by staying up to date on the latest technical solutions in the agricultural sector, supporting research and analysis to advocate for sound policies to abate agriculture methane emissions around the world, and representing CATF when engaging with key partners, including forums and conferences.

Key Functions and Responsibilities:
Leads and collaborates with key partners to perform analytical and technical work
* Gather, analyze, and interpret agriculture sector data on emissions, livestock production and characterization, mitigation practices and opportunities, etc. from range of sources, such as peer-reviewed journal articles, official inventories and projections, regulatory documents, and commercial reports.
* Manage agriculture methane projects and activities in multiple countries, prioritizing activities to support deliverables, engaging with teams internally at CATF and with partners and stakeholders, and leading meetings and workshop agendas.
* Co-lead and draft content including reports, blog posts, op-eds, white papers, analyses, and other compelling material to advance CATF's agriculture methane reduction objectives.
* Support the creation of factsheets and other messaging documents to effectively communicate science and technology developments to key decisionmakers, including civil, elected, and industry leaders.
* Stay current on the latest developments in solutions for methane emissions from the agriculture sector, as well with agricultural policies.
* Manage and oversee work by consultants, as needed.

Collaborates with the global policy team to perform direct decision-maker advocacy
* Provide science-based inputs for public consultation and for policy changes.
* In collaboration with the MPP team and CATF regional advocacy, advocate for ambitious policies to reduce agriculture methane emissions in a variety of different policy venues.
* Identify opportunities, priorities and methods to answer policy-relevant questions through research and analysis based on stakeholder needs.
* Draft and present regulatory comments and consultations.
* Help to identify key learnings and best practices to continually improve our global engagement.
* Collaborate with and strengthen connections between policymakers, scientists, and other NGOs working to reduce methane emissions from the agriculture sector.
* Support development and implementation of on-site and remote capacity building and workshops.

Support strategy development and implementation to sustain program quality
* Work closely with the Agriculture Methane Director and other MPP staff on agriculture methane strategy and project development.
* Advise managers and teams on new approaches that sustain project and agriculture program delivery.
* Support budget management, resourcing and fundraising efforts to deliver strategic initiatives.
* Respond and adapt to new internal policies and procedures and align work with the organizational strategy and MPP program objectives.

Represent CATF in meetings and public venues
* Advocate effectively on behalf of the organization before a wide range of stakeholders, at conferences, meetings, webinars, and other activities.
* Build collaborative networks with stakeholders and partners that deepen the shared perspective on CATF's agriculture strategy and theory of change.

Skills and Qualifications:
Education/Experience
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent in agriculture, agriculture economics, animal sciences, veterinary sciences. MSc/MA or other advanced degree is preferred with a focus on management, economics, or agricultural policy.
* 5+ years of relevant professional work experience in/with the livestock industry, particularly knowledgeable about cattle production systems in South America.
* Experience with agricultural policy in South America, particularly focused on livestock
* Experience in methane, greenhouse gas, or environmental research, including data analysis and policy advocacy in preferred.
* Experience with environmental lobbying/advocacy a plus; strong interest required.

Skills
* Professional fluency in English and either Spanish or Portuguese is required. Fluency in both Spanish and Portuguese is a plus.
* Strong technical writing capabilities, including in English and Portuguese or Spanish
* Excellent communication (including English and Portuguese or Spanish), interpersonal and presentation skills
* Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities
* Strong negotiation skills
* Able to work independently with minimal oversight
* Excellent time management skills and attention to detail
* Ability to translate and communicate complex science to partners and decision makers
* Avid networker skilled at building trust with a wide range of stakeholders
