The Centre for Effective Altruism (CEA) stewards the movement of people putting effective altruism principles into practice to solve the world's most pressing problems, including global poverty, animal suffering and existential risks. CEA is hiring a Recruiting Specialist, a senior individual contributor role on its growing recruiting team (headcount has grown from 42 to 72 core staff, with plans to add dozens more roles). Reporting to the Recruiting Manager, you will own full-cycle hiring rounds end-to-end, take on team-wide recruiting projects with significant autonomy, and help coach and develop other members of the recruiting team.
Key responsibilities:
- Partner with hiring managers to understand needs, calibrate throughout the process, and serve as a thought partner on recruiting best practices
- Write job descriptions, launch roles, and source candidates through proactive outreach and network building
- Screen applications, conduct initial interviews, support development and grading of test tasks, coordinate interview schedules
- Conduct reference checks and manage offer processes while maintaining an excellent candidate experience
- Project-manage hiring rounds to meet recruiting targets, and track and maintain candidate pipeline data
- Own team-wide recruiting projects, identify process improvements, and train hiring managers on running effective interviews
- Support onboarding and training of new recruiters; occasionally represent CEA at EAG conferences and events; potentially own an area of recruiting operations such as sourcing or employer brand
What we're looking for:
- Some recruiting experience, with a track record of running or materially contributing to hiring processes
- Organized and detail-oriented, able to manage multiple workstreams and shifting priorities
- Strong internal stakeholder management and clear verbal and written communication
- Sound judgment under pressure and uncertainty; high discretion with confidential information
- Enjoy managing projects end-to-end; motivated by principles-first EA
- Willing to travel internationally for conferences and team retreats 4-5 times a year
