The European Climate Foundation (ECF) is a major philanthropic initiative working to tackle the climate crisis by fostering the transition to a net-zero emission society at the national, European and global level. ECF supports around 700 partner organisations to drive ambitious climate policy in support of the Paris Agreement objectives.

About the role: As a Grants Officer, you will be part of the Grants Management team and report to the Grants Operations Manager. You will support ECF programmes with their strategic grantmaking, ensure consistency of approach and compliance with internal processes, and act as liaison between the programmatic work, grantee partners, and other central services teams such as Legal, Risk & Compliance and Finance.

Key responsibilities:
- Carry out due diligence reviews on new and existing grantees.
- Generate and monitor grant requests in FLUXX, ECF's grant management system.
- Monitor budgets and follow up the grant contracting stage.
- Support country and programmatic teams with regranting budget planning and reconcile planning budgets with the FLUXX system.
- Provide support to grantee partners throughout the grant life cycle.
- Support the administrative and financial review of grant reporting.
- Handle grant payments in close relation with the Finance team.
- Monitor grant closing activities.
- Support teams with the use of core systems and tools.

Experience and competencies:
- 3-4 years of experience in an administrative and financial role.
- Ability to deliver high quality output within ambitious timeframes.
- Customer-oriented approach, comfortable engaging with various stakeholders.
- Excellent collaborative skills and ability to work autonomously.
- Some experience in budget oversight and planning.
- Strong communication skills and excellent command of English; knowledge of other languages is a strong added value.
- Good knowledge of MS Office and excellent knowledge of Excel; comfortable with new software.
- Genuine interest in ECF's mission and values.

What we offer: a fixed-term, full-time contract for 6 months in a dynamic, purpose-driven international team; a flexible work environment with the possibility to work remotely up to 4 days per week. Location: Brussels, Belgium or The Hague, Netherlands; candidates need a work permit for the work location. Start date: as soon as possible.
