The Environmental Justice Foundation (EJF) is a global non-profit that protects the natural world and upholds the human right to a secure environment, working through field investigations, research and international advocacy on oceans, climate, forests and wetlands, and the protection of environmental defenders and journalists.
Over the next three years, Europe will make critical decisions that will shape the future of its seas and the global ocean. EJF is working with close partners to lead a campaign to defend and secure a robust EU regulatory regime that protects marine ecosystems and restores biodiversity while ensuring a more equitable and sustainable fishing sector and ending the marginalisation of small-scale fishers. The Campaign Director will lead implementation of this flagship campaign, combining institutional knowledge, strategic influence and communication skills with the credibility and networks needed to operate at the highest levels of European policymaking.

- Build collaborations with NGOs, fishers' organisations, academics, legal experts and other allies, and coordinate delivery across the coalition.
- Build and maintain senior-level relationships with policymakers, advisers, diplomats and regulators.
- Lead debate framing and messaging that positions healthy seas, biodiversity restoration and thriving coastal communities as mutually reinforcing priorities.
- Represent the campaign externally in high-level meetings, conferences, roundtables and media.
- Identify political opportunities and risks and adapt campaign tactics; track progress against campaign goals.
- Contribute to donor engagement, including shaping proposals and reporting on impact.
Requirements:
- Senior political expertise and access, with deep understanding of the European institutions and established networks.
- Proven track record of designing and delivering successful advocacy or political campaigns with measurable outcomes.
- Collaborative and diplomatic approach across governments, NGOs and industry.
- Outstanding communicator, fluent in English. Fluency in another EU language (French, German or Spanish) is desirable.
