Healthy Learners is an award-winning non-profit organisation working to improve the health and learning of children across Zambia. In partnership with the Government of Zambia, it brings healthcare directly into schools through 1,062 health rooms, 8,370 trained School Health Teachers, and operations in 45 districts across all ten provinces, reaching more than 1.4 million learners.
The Head of Business Planning & Analytics is a strategic leadership role that will build the analytical, digital, and process-optimisation capability powering Healthy Learners' internal support functions. Reporting to the Senior Director, People, Culture & Administration, the role ensures that Supply Chain, Administration, and other internal support departments work smarter by designing and optimising workflows, delivering sharper data insights, and deploying practical digital and AI-enabled tools. The role also anchors Supply Chain's planning and systems agenda, including demand planning, the Warehouse Management System (WMS) and future ERP build.
Key responsibilities:
- Cross-departmental process optimisation and digitisation (20%): partner with department heads to redesign manual or inconsistent workflows; build logic-driven planning tools; maintain a prioritised pipeline of optimisation opportunities.
- AI and digital enablement partnership (15%): identify opportunities for AI, automation and digital tools; work with the Digital Health team and vendors to scope and implement solutions; lead change management and adoption.
- Business intelligence, dashboards and insights (15%): design and maintain dashboards and reporting tools; define metrics with department leads; produce analysis for the Senior Director and Deputy CEO; establish data governance standards.
- Supply chain systems, planning and operational efficiency (35%): serve as business liaison for the WMS and ERP build; own supply chain master data standards; lead planning and analytics for transformation projects; strengthen the organisation-wide demand planning framework and forecasting accuracy.
- Governance, stakeholder management and capability building (15%): build data, planning and digital capability through training; build strong relationships with department heads.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations, Business Analytics, Supply Chain Management, Information Systems, Economics, Industrial Engineering or a related field; a Master's degree or professional certification (PMP, Lean Six Sigma, CPSM, APICS/CSCP) is an advantage.
- 7+ years of progressive experience in business process improvement, operations, analytics or digital transformation, including at Head or senior-management level.
- Experience partnering with technical teams, IT or external vendors to scope and implement digital or AI-enabled solutions.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and hands-on experience building dashboards in Power BI or Tableau.
- Experience with process mapping and redesign, and translating manual workflows into structured tools or automated logic.
- Strong systems-thinking mindset and excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, including with C-suite stakeholders.
- People leadership experience, with the ability to build, mentor and manage a team.
