Village Enterprise's mission is to end extreme poverty in rural Africa through entrepreneurship, innovation, and collective action. By empowering women, refugees, and youth to launch small businesses and savings groups, its cost-effective model provides dignified and sustainable pathways out of extreme poverty. Village Enterprise seeks a staff member to collect data in Busia county and contribute to the success of the organization. The Enumerator is a self-driven, self-sufficient staff member who excels at data collection, while also critically analyzing all the surveys and providing feedback to M&E. The role reports to the Senior Enumerator and sits in the Programs department. Responsibilities: data collection on the core program and all studies as designed by the M&E Team, at baseline, midline and end line; business and Business Savings Group (BSG) spot-checks; monthly reports on key findings in the field and weekly reports on challenges encountered; attending required M&E trainings; data entry as required; uploading, double-checking and synchronizing all collected data daily; community liaison, including representing the organization professionally and explaining its work to government officials; and upholding Village Enterprise's safeguarding policies and Code of Conduct, including reporting any child or adult safeguarding incidents. Requirements: minimum of a Diploma in any discipline with prior experience or exposure in research disciplines; understanding of the elements of data quality; flexibility to various work schedules and adaptability to changing work demands; ability to accurately operate mobile data collection technology; passion for working with poor and illiterate people; willingness to move frequently within rural settings; ability to translate survey content from English into the local language; and must be a resident of Busia county (specifically from Namuduru and Bujwanga sublocations).
