The Centre for Effective Altruism (CEA) is hiring a Salesforce Developer to customize and build applications on its Salesforce platform that keep CEA's flagship programs (events, online courses, EA groups, the EA Forum) running smoothly and help the wider team achieve ambitious growth goals. This is an individual contributor position on the Salesforce Team, reporting to the Salesforce Engineer and collaborating closely with the Events, Online, Groups, and Community Health teams.
About CEA: CEA stewards the movement of people putting effective altruism principles into practice to solve the world's most pressing problems, including global poverty, animal suffering, and risks from transformative AI.
Key responsibilities:
- Design and build efficient Salesforce solutions tailored to user needs, including enhancing data collection and management capabilities
- Develop and maintain integrations between Salesforce and internal or third-party systems
- Manage and enhance Salesforce Experience Cloud Sites hosting custom-built application forms (screen flows and custom code)
- Test all functionality before launch and quickly resolve post-launch issues or bugs
- Troubleshoot and debug custom code, automations, integrations, and platform functionality
- Ensure custom development follows best practices on security and performance
- Maintain technical documentation and drive continuous improvement
- Ensure adherence to compliance, data security, and governance policies; identify risks and develop mitigation strategies
- Identify user requirements for each project, coordinate with the Salesforce Engineer, and support day-to-day user requests
Requirements:
- Active Salesforce Platform Developer I Certification
- Proficiency in Apex and SOQL
- Excellent attention to detail for data accuracy, reliability, and compliance
- Strong team spirit and collaborative mindset
- Adaptability and willingness to learn new technologies and tools
- Strong verbal and written communication skills

Other information: Full-time, remote position; applicants able to work in time zones between US Pacific Time and CET preferred. Ideal start date January 2027. Compensation: total package of $115,834 USD (base salary $105,304 USD plus 10% unconditional 401(k) contribution), adjusted for candidates outside the US. The role involves about 2 trips annually, including some international travel.
