The Youth Endowment Fund (YEF) exists to prevent children and young people becoming involved in violence by finding out what works and building a movement to put that knowledge into practice. As part of the Youth Understanding team, the Youth Voice Officer supports young people to use their experiences and voices to shape, support and amplify YEF's work through the Youth Advisory Board (YAB). This is a 12-month fixed-term maternity cover role reporting to the Youth Understanding Manager. Salary: £34,200 per annum. Location: Central London, in person 2 days per week. An Enhanced DBS check with Children's Barred List is required.
Key responsibilities:
- Co-lead an accessible, safe and effective Youth Advisory Board: plan, lead and review engaging activities, meetings and events for young people (mostly online, with some evening work, usually 1-2 evenings per week, and occasional weekend or in-person activities with time off in lieu).
- Build trusting relationships with YAB members aged 16-25, providing pastoral support, personal development planning and safeguarding; help recruit and induct members; monitor attendance and engagement.
- Champion and facilitate lived experience involvement across YEF's work, including leading lived-experience working groups, creating safe, trauma-informed spaces, and building relationships with external providers such as secure settings.
- Coordinate and encourage youth voice in communications, working with the YEF Comms team to amplify young people's voices on social media and other media, and supporting young people to share their stories through creative means.
About you: You believe in young people and have experience working with them, including safeguarding processes; you are passionate about helping young people be heard in safe, strength-based ways; you can juggle many diverse tasks and priorities; and you love collaborating and supporting. Lived experience of youth violence is of particular interest but not a criterion.
Benefits include a £1,000 annual professional development budget, 28 days holiday plus bank holidays, employer pension contribution of 5%, flexible hours, volunteering days, an Employee Assistance Programme and death in service cover.
Closing date: 7th October 2026, 17:00
