The Communications Officer is a new position created to strengthen delivery of WFD's communications, engagement, and events. Based in Kenya, this role joins the global Communications and External Affairs team, providing advice and support on reputation, branding, and stakeholder engagement, and helping lead campaigns promoting WFD's relevance and impact. Working closely with the Communications Manager and colleagues across the team, the Communications Officer will be involved in all aspects of WFD's digital and internal channels and events, including website updates, social media management, internal communications, monitoring digital engagement, and administrative support for online and in-person events.

Essential requirements: at least one year's relevant experience in communications, digital communications, journalism, media, or a related field; experience using digital communications platforms and tools including social media and Canva or similar design tools; strong written and spoken English; good organisational and time-management skills with ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines; ability to work collaboratively and independently across an inclusive, cross-cultural environment.

WFD is the UK public body dedicated to supporting democracy and governance around the world, collaborating with partners in over 50 countries and territories on parliaments, political parties, electoral institutions, and civil society, addressing issues such as climate change, corruption, election protection, disinformation, and inclusion of women, young people, people with disabilities, and LGBT+ people.

Contract: Fixed Term, 12 months, from November 2026. Flexible working options available (remote, hybrid, or office-based in Nairobi).
