Danish Refugee Council is looking for a qualified Protection Assistant – Monitoring for operations in Mai Tsebri, Ethiopia. Under line management of the Protection team leader and technical supervision of the Protection Officer-Monitoring, the role will implement protection monitoring activities in selected IDP sites and host communities in Mai-Tsebri and Dimma, planning and conducting protection monitoring visits, data collection and encoding, referral of individuals at risk, information sharing, and reporting on protection trends and risks. Duties include conducting protection monitoring in assigned areas, contributing to development and review of monitoring tools, identifying trends and needs through Key Informant Interviews and Focus Group Discussions, utilizing data collection systems, identifying individuals at risk and referring them for assistance, supporting Individual Protection Assistance, monitoring referral effectiveness, conducting community awareness raising, maintaining stakeholder relationships, and supporting report writing and documentation. Requires minimum one year's experience in humanitarian response and refugee/IDP protection with an international NGO, UN agency or relevant authority; experience with online data collection tools such as Kobo and Activity Info; strong data collection, analysis and reporting skills; experience working with displaced or conflict-affected populations; and proficiency in Microsoft Office. University degree/diploma in social sciences, law, social work, international development or related field required. Excellent English, Amharic and Tigrigna language skills needed. Contract length is 3 months, national contract, Band I2, start date 20 October 2026. Only qualified Ethiopian nationals are encouraged to apply.
