We are looking for recent graduates of or candidates studying towards a masters' degree, PhD, or postdoctoral programme to assist the Policy Strategy and Institutional Relations (PSIR) division of the European Stability Mechanism (ESM). The PSIR team, part of the Secretary General Department, handles policies related to the ESM's mandate and relationships with Rating Agencies and peer institutions. The traineeship offers promising young professionals the chance to understand how the ESM works while contributing to its mission. Purpose: support the team in preparing policy notes and briefings related to ESM's mandate and instruments and collaboration with institutional partners such as Regional Financial Arrangements and the IMF; assist management and senior staff in preparing IMF/WB Annual and Spring Meetings including policy briefings and bilateral meeting setup; contribute to analyses on topics related to deepening the Economic Monetary Union; provide research assistance and/or carry out an agreed analytical project. Qualifications: candidate or recent graduate (within one year) of a master's degree in economics, finance, international relations or EU studies, or a PhD/postdoctoral candidate within relevant timeframe; first experience in international relations an asset; excellent oral and written English, additional languages an asset. Key competencies: strong analytical skills, teamwork and collaboration, proactive and self-organized attitude, innovative and strategic thinking, problem solving. Duration: six months, renewable once for up to another six months. Competitive allowance granted. Expected start date: 1 January 2027.
