IMPACT Initiatives, a humanitarian NGO based in Geneva, is seeking a (Senior) Research Officer to support the REACH Initiative's team covering Nigeria, based in Dakar, Senegal with possible travel to Abuja. Contract duration is 6 months, starting October 2026. Nigeria faces severe humanitarian needs from conflict, displacement, economic pressures and climate shocks, with 8.8 million people in the Northeast requiring urgent assistance and 34.7 million projected to face Crisis-level food insecurity or worse by August 2026. Under the line management of the Research Manager, the Research Officer manages and implements IMPACT's research cycles in-country, including preparation, data collection, analysis, drafting, dissemination and evaluation. Responsibilities include research planning and design of gender-sensitive methodologies, preparing ToRs, overseeing enumerator training and data collection, ensuring data management and analysis, drafting research products (factsheets, reports, briefs), engaging with partners and working groups, knowledge sharing, project cycle management including budget oversight, and team management including line management, capacity building and staff appraisals. The role also involves internal coordination and strict adherence to data confidentiality and protection standards. Candidates should hold excellent academic qualifications, preferably a Master's degree in Economics, social sciences, humanitarian studies, protection or development, with proven experience in complex research methods including cash-based programming.
