The Clean Energy Supply Senior Lead will play a leading role in shaping and strengthening the intervention and research agenda of the clean energy pillar in WRI Indonesia's Energy and Sustainable Business (ESB) program. The role provides strategic and technical leadership across clean energy supply topics, including green power procurement, grid flexibility, integrated resource planning, solar PV and battery storage (BESS), energy tariffs, and transport and power integration. The position is hybrid (8 days per month in the Jakarta office) and reports to the Senior Manager for Energy and Sustainable Business. It works closely with the Clean Energy Demand and ESB research teams, and coordinates with WRI's Polsky Energy Center and other WRI country offices.
Research & Development: Provide direction and strategic insights for the development of CES pillar project interventions and research. Lead policy and technical studies that produce policy recommendations or technical guidelines (corporate renewable energy procurement, industrial decarbonization, integrated resource planning, energy tariffs, grid flexibility and storage). Oversee research quality and alignment across the portfolio. Co-develop technical analyses on green power procurement for utilities, corporates and ministries. Coordinate subject matter experts, universities, governments and research institutions. Contribute to communication products such as blog posts and briefs.
Project Management and Engagement: Oversee implementation and budget spending of CES projects in line with donor requirements. Provide day-to-day leadership to the CES team, including performance monitoring and coaching. Oversee external experts and consultants. Contribute to proposal writing and donor reporting. Represent the ESB program with donors, government institutions, PLN, financial institutions, investors, developers and corporate stakeholders. Build strategic partnerships.
Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Energy Economics, Economics, Energy Systems, Natural Resources Management or a related field (Master's preferred). Minimum 6 years of experience in renewable energy, power systems, energy transition or a closely related field. In-depth knowledge of renewable energy and power sector issues (procurement, power system planning, grid flexibility, storage, energy markets and tariffs, industrial energy transition). Experience designing and overseeing robust, transparent and reproducible data collection and analysis. Strong research, communication, organizational and time-management skills. Business proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia and English. Willingness to travel. Legal authorization to work in Indonesia.
Contract: Full-time, fixed-term for 6 months, with possible extension up to 31 December 2027 subject to performance, project needs and budget availability.
