FHI 360 is a nonprofit human development organization. Its Benin office is recruiting one (1) HIV Clinical Officer (Clinicien(ne) en charge du VIH) based in Cotonou to strengthen HIV prevention and care interventions across several departments of Benin. The role aims to improve the quality of care at project sites in the prevention and management of people living with HIV. The Clinical Officer will also represent FHI 360 in forums on HIV prevention, care and treatment, and will advocate for stronger implementation of the Prevention and Care Continuum. The post reports to the Senior Technical Advisor in Cotonou.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide clinical expertise and technical and programmatic advice on planning, designing and implementing HIV prevention and care programs.
- Support staff at FHI 360 Benin's partner health facilities to deliver high-quality, needs-focused services for people living with HIV.
- Work with the Senior Technical Advisor to develop clinical quality assurance systems at project-supported facilities.
- Implement a comprehensive monitoring system to improve HIV care and ensure services meet minimum standards of care.
- Train project site staff in prevention, care and treatment.
- Give direct support to health care providers to deliver clinical care in line with national guidelines and in a timely way.
- Represent the project in care and treatment forums, including technical advisory and advocacy groups.
- Identify promising practices in implementing the prevention and care continuum and collect data to document them.
- Directly verify clinical data and ensure the internal consistency and validity of program monitoring data from all implementing partners in the coverage area, through periodic data checks and audit visits.
- Collaborate with the Ministry of Health to coordinate program interventions at regional and/or national level.
- Analyze prevention and care cascade data and use the results to improve the program for people living with HIV.
Qualifications:
- Doctorate in medicine (MD).
- At least 5 years of professional medical practice experience (as an ARV prescriber).
- Experience in monitoring and evaluation of health programs.
- Training in PMTCT and/or at least 1 year working in a PMTCT service.
- Strong writing, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Good command of French (spoken and written); knowledge of English is an asset. Proven French and English language skills are also listed.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Experience with health associations.
- Motivated, creative, able to work in diverse cultural, social and political environments, and a team player.
Open to Beninese nationals or any other nationality with a work permit for Benin. Expected annual basic salary: XOF 12,000,000 - 15,000,000.
