Tearfund is seeking an enthusiastic, committed and highly resilient Senior Emergency Finance and Compliance Response Officer to join its LATAM Influencing team, supporting the post-earthquake response programme. The role ensures the ethical, professional, compliant and efficient management of all financial operations, maintaining robust internal controls, eliminating over/under expenditure and keeping records audit-ready in an emergency context.
Key responsibilities:
- Day-to-day financial management of partner humanitarian funds, maintaining accurate digital cashbooks and coordinating local procurement in strict compliance with Tearfund's Anti-Corruption Guidelines.
- Partner sub-grant oversight: validating financial reports, reviewing supporting documentation and conducting administrative due diligence for local partner organisations.
- Emergency financial workflows: swiftly processing accounts payable (suppliers, consultants, expense claims) under rapid emergency deadlines.
- Capacity building: delivering financial orientation, technical guidance and training to local partner finance staff, and providing actionable field recommendations.
- Field logistics and admin support: local procurement, supplier contracting, asset tracking and basic field HR administration.
Requirements:
- Extensive experience in NGO financial accounting and multi-donor budgeting, managing complex internal controls and strict financial reporting under tight deadlines.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.
- Exceptional written and verbal Spanish, and professional working level of English.
- Ability to work calmly under physical and mental pressure and to travel frequently to disaster-affected project sites.
- Commitment to Tearfund's Christian beliefs and participation in spiritual sessions of prayer and biblical reflection.
The role works under the direct supervision of the Senior Finance and Compliance Officer and in synergy with the LAC Regional Administrator. Based in Colombia with frequent field travel. Fixed-term contract; competitive salary dependent on location. The recruitment process includes safeguarding checks, a clean criminal record check and international watchlist screening.
