Humanity & Inclusion (HI) is an independent and impartial international solidarity organisation working in situations of poverty, exclusion, conflict and disaster, alongside people with disabilities and vulnerable populations.
Location: Regional Specialist for the Sahel West Africa (SAO) region, based in Dakar (Senegal), Lomé (Togo) or Cotonou (Benin). Frequent travel across the 7 HI intervention countries in the sub-region. Desired start date: 1 January 2027. Contract: 12 months.
Reporting to the Technical Head of Program, the field Regional Technical Specialist (STR) contributes to HI's 2026-2030 strategy for the SAO region and ensures optimal quality and impact of Armed Violence Reduction (AVR) projects across the region, working closely with country teams and headquarters technical resources.
Main responsibilities:
1. Technical expertise: lead the regional AVR strategy and contribute to SAO and global strategic thinking; provide technical support to projects in line with global AVR standards (contextual analysis, needs assessment, implementation, monitoring and evaluation); ensure technical quality control and follow-up through field missions, internal audits and team coaching; integrate cross-cutting approaches (disability-gender-age, conflict sensitivity, protection mainstreaming).
2. Business development: strategic technical monitoring of regional dynamics and calls for proposals; develop partnerships and consortia with development and humanitarian actors, research institutes and multilateral organisations; support the design and writing of concept notes and proposals; represent HI in external coordination and advocacy forums; contribute to technical visibility and external communication.
3. Knowledge management and lessons learned: coordinate a knowledge management system, promote research and innovation, run cross-country learning workshops, contribute to analytical reports and capitalisation documents; support capacity building of technical and non-technical staff, including recruitment, onboarding and training needs assessments.
Requirements: at least 7 years of professional experience in a position of responsibility in AVR, part of it in the SAO region; strong written and oral communication and high-level representation skills; in-depth knowledge of development and/or emergency response approaches; proven programme design, monitoring and evaluation skills; capacity to implement and scale sustainable strategies; strong capacity-building and workshop facilitation skills; expertise in supporting vulnerable groups and inclusive interventions; safe programming (risk management, protection); fluency in French and English.
Benefits: 12-month contract from 1 January 2027. Residents of the country are on local package; national applications are strongly encouraged and prioritised. International contract: social coverage, salary from €2,813 gross/month, variable per diem, 25 paid leave days per year, 11 R&R days per year, individual housing provided by HI; open to single applicants, couples and families.
