The purpose of the Finance Technical Assistant position is to provide efficient and compliant financial support services, ensuring accurate processing of financial transactions, maintenance of cash and bank records, and adherence to NRC financial policies and procedures. The role is based in Port Sudan (Khartoum Country Office) and is full time. It is open to Sudan nationals only.
Responsibilities:
- Process cash and bank payments in compliance with NRC financial policies and procedures.
- Handle and safeguard petty cash/safe box and ensure all transactions are supported with relevant documentation.
- Prepare and process bank transfers for suppliers, beneficiaries, staff claims, and other NRC operational expenses.
- Accurately record payments, advances, staff clearances, and other financial transactions in NRC financial systems (Citrix/Unit4).
- Maintain up-to-date cash and bank balance trackers and provide regular reports to management.
- Conduct safe replenishments in accordance with NRC finance policies and approved procedures.
- Assist in month-end financial closing activities and document filing.
- Ensure proper archiving of finance documents and supporting records for audit purposes.
- Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and information.
- Monitor daily safe box balances and ensure cash payments remain within NRC-approved cash ceiling limits.
- Prepare weekly cash and bank balance reports and share them with the Finance Coordinator for review and action.
Key interfaces: Finance Coordinator, Area and Country Office finance teams, Procurement and Logistics, Program Teams, Human Resources, and banks and financial service providers.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in finance, accounting, cash management, or a related function.
- Good written and spoken English.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word, and ability to work accurately with computerized accounting systems.
- Previous experience with humanitarian or non-governmental organizations is an advantage.
- Strong foundation in accounting principles, bookkeeping, and accounts payable and receivable.
- Experience with ERP/accounting systems, preferably Unit4 or similar.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines, with strong attention to detail.
- Knowledge of NRC financial policies and donor compliance requirements is an advantage.
- Knowledge of Arabic is desirable.
