Location: Islamabad, Pakistan
GGGI is a treaty-based intergovernmental organization supporting green growth in developing countries. This individual consultancy supports the AFOLU components of Pakistan's national Long-Term Low Emission Development Strategy (LT-LEDS), covering natural and plantation forests, agriculture (livestock, sugarcane, rice, other crops), and fertilizer/manure emissions. The expert will produce evidence-based research on AFOLU emissions baselines and business-as-usual (BAU) scenarios, analyze data, prepare technical reports, contribute to knowledge products, assist in developing baseline and BAU projections incorporating national GHG inventory data, identify feasible low-carbon development options, contribute to cost-benefit and marginal abatement cost analysis, and propose policy and financing options. Deliverables include an inception report refinement, a baseline/BAU scenario report, workshop presentation materials, a written AFOLU chapter for the LT-LEDS document, and a compiled dataset package, spread across a contract ending June 30, 2027. Requires an advanced degree in sustainable development, agriculture, forestry, land use or related field; at least 5+ years of professional experience in developing countries and/or Asia; direct experience with government institutions, IGOs, academic or non-governmental organizations in Asia/Pakistan; direct experience in AFOLU-related emissions accounting and scenario development, ideally in Asia/Pakistan; strong Microsoft Office skills; strong analytical and English writing skills.
