Reporting to the Manager, Finance, the Senior Associate, Accountant will play a lead role in delivering effective financial control, reporting, systems, and processes, supporting the Finance and Operations department to deliver accurate, timely, and insightful financial information across the organisation. The role safeguards the integrity of accounting records by recording, verifying, consolidating, and posting transactions, and ensures documentation is accurately serialised and securely filed. It also coordinates financial support between field and country-based projects and deputizes for the Manager, Finance as required. Responsibilities include leading the field Finance team; coordinating internal and external audits; ensuring general ledger integrity and proper donor mapping; supporting tax planning and statutory compliance; verifying payment vouchers; supporting procurement compliance and cost control; managing cash disbursements and accounts receivables; building capacity of non-finance staff on financial policies; and managing inventory and property registers. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or related field (Master's an advantage); full or partial professional accounting certification (CPA, ACCA or equivalent) preferred; minimum 5 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, preferably in an NGO or donor-funded environment, with at least two years in a management position; experience managing donor-funded grants and procurement compliance; experience with audits; strong knowledge of accounting software/ERP systems; proficiency in MS Excel; sound knowledge of Uganda's tax laws and statutory compliance obligations.
