Under the supervision of the Protection Team Leader, the Protection Officer (PSS) is responsible for the timely, high-quality, and effective provision of psychosocial support (PSS) activities in Al Turbah (Al Shamayateen – Al Mawasit) districts. The Protection Officer will create activity schedules, review PSS activity plans, provide technical support to PSS facilitators, and conduct PSS activities directly, while supporting the running of community centers.
Responsibilities include: overseeing recreational and PSS activities for children, youth and adults at DRC community centers and IDP sites; conducting information sharing and awareness sessions; providing technical support and supervision to PSS Assistants and CC Facilitators; leading set-up of activity spaces; developing activity schedules including for mobile PSS units; identifying and referring community members needing additional assistance per referral pathways; managing center cleaners' administrative procedures; conducting FGDs with beneficiaries for feedback; producing weekly reports and updated tracking sheets; supporting M&E tool implementation; and representing DRC with community committees, leaders, local authorities, and other NGOs.
Requirements: at least 3 years of experience in protection services or relevant humanitarian action, including at least 1 year implementing or overseeing PSS activities; ability to provide technical support, training and supervision; strong communication, organizational and problem-solving skills; computer literacy in Word and Excel; Bachelor's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a closely related field (proven field experience accepted in lieu). Fluent Arabic and advanced English required.
Contract length: June 30, 2027. Position Band: Management (H2). Start date: ASAP.
