The conflict in Sudan, which erupted in April 2023, has profoundly changed the humanitarian landscape in Chad. By mid-2026, Chad was hosting approximately 1.56 million refugees and asylum seekers, in addition to internally displaced people and returnees. NRC established its operations in Chad in 2023 and currently operates from a Country Office in N'Djamena, an Area Office in Iriba (Wadi Fira), and a Field Office in Adré (Ouaddaï), with a growing presence in Ennedi Est. In 2025, NRC supported more than 81,000 people through Education, ICLA, Shelter and Settlements, WASH, and Livelihoods and Food Security programs. The Country Director provides overall leadership and responsibility for the country operation, driving programme delivery, external representation, inter-agency coordination, resource mobilization and advocacy, and building high-performing teams. Responsibilities include analysing the political and humanitarian context, ensuring quality humanitarian and protection programming, coaching staff, promoting accountability and safeguarding, leading advocacy efforts, developing diversity policies, and serving as a proactive member of the Regional Management Group. Requirements: minimum 5 years' experience as a Senior Manager/Country Director in humanitarian/recovery contexts, experience in complex and volatile contexts, documented results, strong leadership skills, fluency in French and English, and a valid driver's license. Knowledge of the Chad context and the Sudan crisis, advocacy experience, and change management experience are required. Contract: 24 months with possibility of extension. Salary: Grade 12 on NRC's salary scale.
