WeMove Europe is a community-powered campaigning organisation seeking a Head of Communications to combine communications expertise with innovative storytelling to engage hundreds of thousands of Europeans in meaningful action. The role reports to the Campaigns Director and carries line management responsibilities, including managing a social media manager.
Key responsibilities: advise on and shape campaign narratives and communications plans; oversee and produce content that builds pressure on campaign targets (reactive posts, video, timed assets); liaise with media contacts and agencies to amplify campaigns across European and national media; build partnerships with influencers, creators and independent activists; strengthen campaigners' storytelling skills; maintain media database and produce press releases and briefings; oversee social media presence and coach the social media manager; define and track communications success measures including social KPIs; advise senior leadership on communications and crisis-communications matters; ensure consistent messaging across public communications.
Essential skills: strong storytelling ability translating complex policy/campaign issues into compelling copy in English; proven delivery in media relations, influencer partnerships, or content creation; experience engaging new audiences and using audience insights; data-driven, test-and-learn approach; strong collaboration in international teams; ability to coach and train colleagues.
Requirements: fluency in English, willingness to travel within Europe at least three times a year, and five years of relevant experience. Nice to have: experience with digital-first campaigns, video storytelling, line management experience, knowledge of the Brussels press landscape, and other European languages.
Offered: full-time or part-time (4-day week option), permanent contract, remote work within WeMove Europe's registered countries, country-indexed salary ranges (approx. EUR 39,000-65,000 depending on country and city), home office setup, 30 vacation days, training and professional development, and an annual in-person team retreat.
