Under its Access to Law programme (including TrustLaw, the world's leading pro bono legal service) and its Resilience Accelerator, the Foundation helps civil society organisations remain effective under pressure.
The Civil Society Lead will join the Access to Law team to lead innovation and thought leadership protecting civil society in Europe and globally: developing and implementing TRF's civic space strategy; building and strengthening TRF's partner network; providing subject-matter expertise on civil society issues in Europe; convening CSOs, partners, and funders; producing insights and guidance on civil society resilience; designing programming responsive to CSOs' legal/operational/organisational needs; driving strategic growth in this work area.
Required: 7+ years' experience within a CSO focused on democracy/civic space, a funding organisation, or another international development actor; experience with civic space issues in Europe (Africa experience, especially Eastern/Southern, a plus); existing network within democracy/civic-space/CSO-support spaces, especially EU and Central/Eastern Europe; awareness of legal/operational risks facing CSOs; proven project management and independent-work skills.
