Founded in 1981, the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) is an independent, non-profit organization defending journalists worldwide without regard to political ideology.
The Program Coordinator is responsible for CPJ's work in the region, leading research, documentation, and advocacy on press freedom violations, with extensive experience covering press freedom issues in Russia and Eastern Europe. Must be based in the ECA region; hired via an Employer of Record. Responsibilities include team coordination and leadership, press-freedom monitoring/research/data, advocacy strategy and execution, representation with media/governments/partners, and journalist assistance and safety case work.
Required: Bachelor's degree or equivalent; at least 7 years' experience in media or advocacy work related to press freedom in the region; fluency in English and Russian, working proficiency in other regional languages; strong research, writing, and managerial skills.
Compensation: UK reference range 72,250 - 84,000 GBP, based on candidate location.
