Research Associate - Digital Society Programme
The Digital Society Programme at Chatham House investigates the geopolitics and political economy of emerging technology. It platforms the minimum viable digital infrastructure states and companies need to build to have agency in the 21st century. It develops new, pragmatic governance ideas to scale and manage it, engaging in multilateral forums and technology communities alike, and acting as a bridge between them.
What you will do:
- Support the delivery of high-impact research projects.
- Conduct policy-relevant research and drive innovation in research delivery using emerging technologies.
- Present technical research findings clearly and creatively to a range of audiences.
- Plan and coordinate events like panels and scenario exercises.
- Contribute to fundraising and new project opportunities.
What you will bring:
- Technical skills, with outstanding fluency in use of emerging technologies as applied to policy research.
- Expertise in the technical and societal implications of emerging technologies.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively.
- Excellent organisation, attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Experience supporting research proposals, events or stakeholder engagement.
Salary: £38,000 per year. Contract: Full-time, Permanent. Location: St James's Square, London — a hybrid role based in the London office, with the successful candidate expected to work onsite at least 2 days per week and flexibility around event requirements.
