Organizational Context: The Court Management Section (CMS) sits within the Division of Judicial Services in the Registry. CMS has the Registry's delegated responsibility to support the core processes of the Court's judicial proceedings, in particular court operations and judicial information management. This includes representing the Registrar during court proceedings, supporting current court applications and keeping a full and accurate record of all proceedings before the Chamber. The Section is also responsible for the receipt, processing and distribution of official court filings, production of transcripts and audio-visual recording of proceedings, and is the Registry's designated custodian of the record of proceedings, responsible for the management of judicial records and information in both original and electronic form.
Duties and Responsibilities: Under the direct supervision of the Head of Judicial Operations Unit, the incumbent will represent the Registry during court proceedings; draft SOPs, filings and memoranda relating to the activities of the Court Management Section; coordinate the preparation and support of hearings; handle evidence in accordance with applicable standards; and closely follow up assigned cases in order to provide proper advice when required and ensure accurate distribution of filings.
Essential Qualifications - Education: Advanced university degree in law, preferably criminal or international law, or in legal studies or social sciences is required. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience is accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.
Work Experience: A minimum of two years (four years with a first-level university degree) of professional experience in a Court environment and in criminal cases, at national and/or international level.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of international legal instruments, particularly those relevant to the ICC, the legal texts of the ICC and registration rules; knowledge of courtroom procedures and the roles of those involved in their preparation and support; knowledge of eCourt applications and evidence handling; excellent drafting skills for legal texts, memoranda and filings; analytical skills demonstrated through research and analysis of legal issues and interpretation and application of international instruments; excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills; tact and discretion; accuracy and attention to detail; and the ability to establish effective working relationships in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment.
Languages: Proficiency in one of the working languages of the Court, English or French, is required, with a good working knowledge of the other. Knowledge of another official language of the Court (Arabic, Chinese, Russian, Spanish) is an asset.
