Tearfund Ethiopia is seeking a qualified and experienced Assistant Project Officer for the Disaster Risk Financing - Drought Anticipatory Action Project in Konso Zone. The Assistant Project Officer (APO) shall be responsible for field-level activity implementation, target identification, capacity strengthening, early warning/DRR promotion, financial inclusion linkages, progress tracking, monitoring, and reporting. The post-holder shall work directly with target community members, local government experts at woreda level, banking institutions, and community committees to ensure timely, high-quality, and accountable implementation of field interventions.

The post-holder shall be required to dedicate full-time commitment to the Konso DRF Anticipatory Action project, based in Konso Zone within one of the following woredas: Kena, Kolme, and Karat Zuria, with direct field implementation responsibilities across designated Kebeles in the woreda.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:
* BSc/BA in Agriculture, Rural Development, Disaster Risk Management, Social Sciences, or related fields of study
* A minimum of three years' direct experience in agriculture/livelihoods and emergency response/DRR projects within an INGO/NGO setting.
* Proven experience in target selection, screening, registration, and verification.
* Experience in establishing and strengthening SHG/VSLA groups and delivering IGA training.
* Field monitoring experience and quality report writing skills.

The successful candidate will also demonstrate:
* Excellent interpersonal skills with proven community mobilisation capacity and the ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships.
* Technical knowledge of agricultural practices, perma-gardening (vegetable production), and water harvesting techniques.
* Competence with mobile data collection tools and digital communications platforms.
* Advanced computer proficiency (Google Workspace) and documentation management using project management tools.
* Cultural sensitivity and competence in cross-cultural working environments.
* Excellent organisational, time-management, and multitasking abilities to prioritise workloads and meet strict reporting deadlines under pressure, with strong attention to detail.
* Fluency in written and spoken English, Amharic and Afan Xonso.

Contract Type: Fixed Term. Region: East and Central Africa. Fluency in the local language is essential; therefore, preference will be accorded to Ethiopian nationals.
