UNICEF Armenia Country Office is looking for a motivated Child Protection professional with experience in developing and managing programmes that strengthen child protection systems and promote children's rights, safety and well-being, with a strong understanding of the national context.
Under the general guidance of the Deputy Representative and in close coordination with relevant sectoral and cross-sectoral colleagues and partners, the Child Protection Specialist will lead and contribute to the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of evidence-based and sustainable child protection programmes in Armenia. The role will provide technical guidance and strategic support to strengthen national child protection systems and services, address violence, abuse, exploitation and other risks faced by children, and advance inclusive, community-based and family-focused solutions in line with the Convention on the Rights of the Child and UNICEF's priorities.
Key responsibilities:
- Coordinate programme/project development and planning in child protection - lead and contribute to situation analysis, strategic planning and programme design, ensuring UNICEF's Child Protection priorities are informed by evidence, national priorities and emerging trends.
- Manage programmes, monitor progress and deliver results - oversee effective implementation, monitoring and evaluation of child protection programmes, ensuring results are achieved and resources used effectively.
- Provide technical and operational coordination to government counterparts, civil society, UN agencies and other partners, translating UNICEF policies, standards and evidence into effective child protection interventions.
- Build networks and partnerships with government, national and international organizations, donors, academia and other stakeholders.
- Promote innovation, knowledge management and capacity building, facilitating knowledge sharing and strengthening the capacity of government and partners.
- Support programme development and strategic advocacy, contributing to policy dialogue, advocacy, resource mobilization and strategic programme materials.
Minimum requirements:
- Education: Master or equivalent (Advanced University Degree) in Psychology, International Development, Sociology, Social Science, Human Rights, International Law or other related fields.
- Work Experience: At least 5 years of relevant work experience in Human Rights, Child Protection, Early Childhood Development, Social Development or related fields.
- Skills: Monitoring and Evaluation, programme management and development, knowledge management, capacity building.
- Language: Both English and Armenian - Proficient/Fluent.
Desirable: knowledge of another official UN language, especially Russian; experience in developing countries, humanitarian contexts, UN experience and emergency preparedness experience.
