Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international humanitarian aid organization providing assistance in more than 70 countries to populations in distress, victims of natural or manmade disasters and armed conflicts, without discrimination.

CONTEXT: The Operations Department of MSF OCB (Operational Centre Brussels) consists of 7 managerial and technical Cells, each in charge of a portfolio of countries, plus an Emergency Team (E-Pool). The Abidjan-based cell will mainly cover West-Africa & Sahel contexts, including Nigeria, Mali, Benin and Guinea. As a Medical Officer, you play a key medical role in the operational cell, supporting the Medical Coordinators to safeguard the medical quality of the projects. You report to the Deputy Operations Coordinator (DepCO) and are functionally linked to the Operational Deputy Medical Director.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: Co-define and implement the Medical Operations (MedOps) strategy; ensure comprehensive monitoring and follow-up of the medical strategy across MSF operations; support medical coordinators in project follow-up and implementation; ensure medical resources, policies and guidelines are relevant and effectively managed; monitor Quality of Care (QoC) standards; analyze medical activities and data; oversee medical stock strategy and management (including emergency preparedness/EPREP); support HR planning; participate in MedOps budget planning; support emergency responses; validate staff health policies for International Mobile Staff and Country Based Staff; and coordinate with the medical department.

REQUIREMENTS: Medical or paramedical degree mandatory; degree in Public Health or Epidemiology and/or knowledge of Humanitarian law an asset; minimum 3 years of MSF international experience in different operational contexts; minimum 1 year experience as Medical Coordinator with MSF mandatory; experience in epidemics, public health, nutrition, IDPs and refugees, emergency responses an asset. Proficiency in French and English (written and spoken) mandatory.

CONDITIONS: Fixed-term, full-time contract of 24 months (extendable); starting as soon as possible; salary according to MSF salary grid; at least one visit of 2-3 weeks to each MSF project per year.
