World Relief Chicagoland Adult Education serves adult students at every stage of their language learning journey. For in-person classes in Lombard, IL, learners bring their children to participate in Early Learning Childcare while parents are engaged in English language learning, with family literacy as a core goal. The Early Learning Childcare Teacher Assistant prepares children to be successful in a preschool classroom environment by implementing curriculum that develops a child's knowledge, skills, and behaviors across learning domains, maintaining a nurturing, culturally sensitive, English language-rich classroom for infants and toddlers.
This is a limited-term position funded through a grant agreement until June 30, 2027, and contingent upon funding extension. Part-time, 12 hours per week, Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Role & Responsibilities: Prepare multi-level daily lesson plans using the WR Early Childhood Curriculum for infants and toddlers; integrate fine and gross motor activities; develop social skills; encourage English language development; provide physical care considering developmental and safety concerns; prepare/serve/clean-up snack; instruct children and families in safety, nutrition and hygiene; create a welcoming, safe, nurturing learning environment; welcome and direct volunteers; coordinate with the Early Childhood team and Adult Education staff; communicate with parents; attend meetings.
Requirements: Mature and personal Christian faith; commitment to World Relief's mission, vision and values; degree in Early Childhood Education, Family Studies & Human Development, Elementary Education or related; access to own transportation; at least 2 years of related experience; experience or interest in working with immigrant and refugee children.
Preferred: Bi-lingual strongly preferred; fluency in other languages a plus; previous involvement with early childhood programs; strong interpersonal and cross-cultural skills; Microsoft Office proficiency; experience working with volunteers. Pay: $24 - $26 an hour.
