About Village Enterprise
Village Enterprise's mission is to end extreme poverty in rural Africa through entrepreneurship, innovation, and collective action. By empowering women, refugees, and youth to launch small businesses and savings groups, our cost-effective model provides dignified and sustainable pathways for individuals to lift themselves and their families out of extreme poverty for good. To date, Village Enterprise has trained 396,872 first-time entrepreneurs, 80% of whom are women, and supported the launch of 120,609 businesses and 9,309 Business Savings Groups (BSGs). These efforts have positively impacted 2,478,065 lives across Africa. With operations in Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, and Uganda, and partnerships in other sub-Saharan African countries, Village Enterprise continues to expand its reach. About the Position:
The Product and Service Coordinator will strengthen business and savings group performance across Village Enterprise's regions of operation. This role is ideal for a driven, self-sufficient professional who can provide tailored support to businesses that need additional guidance while ensuring the continued success of Business Savings Groups (BSGs). The Product and Service Coordinator will work closely with Field Associates (FAs) and Business Mentors (BMs) to deliver measurable improvements in business performance and savings group outcomes. The Product and Service Coordinator will use insights from Village Enterprise Adaptive Management dashboards, external research, and strategic partnerships to help business owners and savings groups increase their potential for long-term success.
Responsibilities
Organizational Business Savings Group Health
* Use savings health data from Village Enterprise Adaptive Management Systems to monitor the performance of businesses and savings groups across the country and regions of operation, and share clear guidance with teams on how to interpret and apply the data.
* Build team capacity to apply global standards and best practices for savings groups.
* Identify key challenges that prevent savings groups from thriving and communicate them clearly to implementation teams.
* Conduct targeted regional support visits to strengthen team capacity in applying savings group best practices.
* Work closely with the Regional Manager or Country Director to identify and support linkages to appropriate markets and financial services.
Organizational Business Health
* Support teams in applying best practices in microenterprise development for people living in extreme poverty.
* Monitor how entrepreneurs invest grants, document the effectiveness of full grant utilization, and establish practices that reduce misuse while considering internal and external factors that influence grant investment.
* Use business health data from Village Enterprise Adaptive Management Systems to monitor business performance across the country and regions of operation, and guide teams on how to apply these insights effectively.
* Collaborate with the Product and Service team to identify profitable, climate-smart, and sustainable businesses that promote gender inclusion, and support field teams in implementing them.
* Develop and nurture relationships with relevant government departments, private-sector actors, and NGOs to strengthen access to inputs, technologies, markets, and solutions that support business success.
