The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) is hiring a Financial Planning & Analysis Manager within the Finance unit.

Please note that this role is offered as a three-year fixed term contract.

This role is based in Basel, Switzerland; however, thanks to our status as an international organization, we can hire globally and welcome applications from candidates of all nationalities and located anywhere in the world. Relocation support is available for the successful candidate and their dependent family members.

Purpose of the job:
Lead the cost analysis and budgeting process for the General Secretariat (GSec) department (including centrally managed IT, HR, buildings and meetings functions). Drive improvements in cost management, forecasting, and expense planning, ensuring alignment with the Bank’s strategic priorities. This is a critical position for enhancing financial transparency and supporting decision-making across key operational areas.

By joining the Finance team, you will:
• Play a pivotal role in enhancing financial transparency and driving strategic decision-making in a dynamic and impactful environment.
• Collaborate with diverse stakeholders across departments to streamline cost management and forecasting processes.
• Gain exposure to high-level financial planning and analysis, leveraging cutting-edge tools and best practices.

Principal Accountabilities:
• Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting for central IT, HR, buildings, and meetings budgets, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities.
• Monitor and analyse cost developments, identifying trends, variances, and opportunities for efficiency improvements.
• Support Finance and GSec Management with resource reallocation, including acting as Secretary to the Resource Oversight Group.
• Prepare financial reports, dashboards, and presentations to support senior management and Board decision-making.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and project/program offices to ensure accurate financial reporting and effective budget management.
• Develop and implement tools and processes to improve cost management, forecasting accuracy, and financial analysis efficiency.

Qualifications, skills and experience:
• University degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or another quantitative field. An accounting qualification (e.g., CIMA, ACA, ACCA) is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail and proficiency in financial modelling and ERP systems.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and communicate financial information clearly in both written and verbal English.
• Proven experience in financial planning, budgeting, or cost management, preferably in a complex organisational setting.
• Experience with SQL, data analytics platforms, or automation tools is an advantage.
