BirdLife International Tokyo is the Japanese presence of BirdLife International, the world's oldest and largest international nature conservation partnership working to protect birds and their habitats. Her Imperial Highness Princess Takamado is the Honorary President of BirdLife International.

We are looking for a Deputy Director whose main responsibility will be to supervise and develop the existing conservation projects of the Tokyo office and support the Tokyo office Leadership in developing projects with Japanese corporations and institutions. The role focuses on Programme Development/Implementation and Fundraising.

How you will do this:
- Leading the effective management of back-office operations, encompassing accounting, human resources, general affairs, and IT, to support the organisation's strategic and operational objectives.
- Supervising the existing conservation programmes including grant institutions.
- Developing conservation activities for Japanese corporations' Corporate Social Responsibility and institutions.
- Ensuring communications work is delivered whilst coordinating with the global communications team.
- Providing support for the Chairman in the management of Tokyo office support functions.

What we are looking for:
- Experience of managing support functions (HR, Finance, IT, communication).
- Substantial experience in working for international conservation NGOs and/or relevant corporate experience.
- Excellent team leader with experience in managing highly engaged teams.
- Professional spoken English.
- Experience in developing and leading conservation projects is desirable.

Contract: 1-year fixed-term with renewal option. Full-time/Part-time: 35 hours per week.
Salary: JPY 8-9 million per annum depending on experience.
Annual Leave: 10 days (pro rata) during first 6 months, increasing up to 20 days per year.
