Overview: Healthy soils are the foundation of productive agriculture, resilient food systems, climate resilience and sustainable livelihoods. The NORAD-funded Establishing an Ecosystem of Soil Data-Driven Services Initiative brings together governments, research institutions, regional organisations and development partners to strengthen soil data infrastructure, improve access to interoperable soil information, and support evidence-based decision-making across Africa. Landscape Alliance is seeking an experienced Stakeholder Engagement, Policy and Knowledge Translation Specialist to provide strategic support across the initiative, ensuring that scientific evidence is translated into practical guidance, policy processes and capacity development activities.
Duties and responsibilities: Strengthen stakeholder engagement by designing, supporting and facilitating inclusive engagement processes for the co-development of national soil health priorities, frameworks and use cases; support policy engagement with governments, the African Union Commission, CGIAR centres and development partners; contribute to translating technical evidence into accessible knowledge products (policy briefs, technical briefs, guidance documents); and increase the initiative's visibility in regional and international policy processes including the Africa Fertilizer and Soil Health Action Plan (AFSH), CAADP, the Africa Food Systems Forum, UNCCD, UNFCCC and the UN Food Systems Summit. The role includes stakeholder mapping, consultation design, workshop facilitation and multi-stakeholder dialogue, and engagement with AUDA-NEPAD and the Soil Health Monitoring Task Force.
Education, knowledge and experience: Postgraduate qualification in agricultural policy, environmental policy, natural resource management, soil science, food systems, climate policy, international development or a related discipline, with at least eight years of relevant professional experience. Substantial experience at the interface of science, policy and development; proven expertise in stakeholder engagement and participatory process facilitation; demonstrated experience building strategic partnerships with continental and international organisations; and detailed understanding of key African agricultural and food systems policy frameworks (CAADP, AFSH) and international processes (UNCCD, UNFCCC, UN Food Systems Summit).
Terms: Consultancy position for 12 (twelve) months; home-based.
